DHEA-S: The adrenal glands produce dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) which is a steroid hormone. The human body converts DHEAS into testosterone and estrogen depending on gender. Estradiol: Estradiol or E2 is the form of estrogen produced mainly by the ovaries. E2 plays plays a pivotal role in the development of female reproductive systems including the uterus, fallopian tubes, vagina, and breasts. Women tend to have higher amounts of E2 during reproductive years and little to no during menopause. Testosterone: Testosterone is mainly produced by the testes in males and in smaller amounts by ovaries in females. Testosterone is important in the production of sperm in males, body fat distribution, bone density, and libido. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH): The pituitary gland produces FSH. In women FSH helps manage the menstrual cycle and stimulates the ovaries to produce eggs. In men FSH stimulates the production of sperm. Luteinizing Hormone (LH): LH is produced in the pituitary gland and plays an important role in sexual development. In females LH helps regulate the menstrual cycle and triggers the release of an egg from the ovary, also known as ovulation. In males LH causes the testes to produce testosterone.
